Is your entrance entrancing?

Your door and the area around it represents how you enter situations in your life. Is there enough space, or is it cramped? Does the door open fully, or is there a sudden block? Cramped entryways and doors with restricted range of motion could lead to your feeling limited when you enter new situations in your life. If you find yourself in the dark as soon as you walk in, you might find yourself fumbling about as you start things in your life.

Your front door - even if it's in an apartment building - should command attention. A doormat helps give the space grounding, and if you can't put a sign next to the door, an ornament of some kind (preferably with some red in it) will attract attention. Having a light outside and/or inside helps you approach and enter with clarity and foresight.

The store featured in the before-after pictures above wasn't attacting the volume of customers they hoped for. What a bold change was made to the entry! The spiky, claw-like plant was removed (although its replacement is not visible in the 'after' photo), and substantial and attractive lighting, signposting, and artwork were added to the area. The storage inside is now covered with curtains, and it has become a warm, inspiring, and welcoming space. This shopowner saw business improve accordingly, even though most of her business was mail-order.

Even if you can't change something about your entrance, do one thing to update the space - add a chime, wash the door, shake out the doormat. You will be enabling yourself to experience a new relationship with your physical space and also with the situations you find yourself in. Bienvenue!
